CITGO Awards Wythe-Grayson Regional Library Foundation for Fueling Good

CITGO recently recognized the Wythe-Grayson Regional Library Foundation as a 2012 Winter Fueling Good winner. The Wythe-Grayson Regional Library Foundation will receive $5,000 in CITGO Gift Cards for its Bookmobile Literacy Program, which provides literacy outreach to local assisted-living facilities and individuals who have difficulty leaving their homes.

"In these tight budget times, funds that would have been used for gas can now be assigned to collection materials for individuals who receive outreach service," said J. Sara Paulk, regional director of the Wythe-Grayson Regional Library. "Thanks to the support of CITGO, our organization can purchase an E-reader which can make the text larger for individuals with vision problems and can circulate it as a book to our outreach users."

The mission of the bookmobile is to bring the library to the people of Wythe and Grayson Counties who have limited access to such resources or who face economic, social, geographic, or other barriers to accessing library services. Through a partnership with the Galax-Carroll regional library, individuals may also request materials from Galax Public Library and Carroll County Public Library, both of which are included in the bookmobile's route.

The Wythe-Grayson Regional Library Foundation is a Regional Library system providing a wide range of library services to a population of more than 40,000 in rural Southwestern Virginia.  The Wythe-Grayson Regional Library Foundation supports all of the libraries' locations and services. With the assistance of the bookmobile, users can access medical, nutritional and special needs information, receive 7,300 books per year, and help economically challenged, homebound and institutionalized individuals connect with the world.

The principles of Fueling Good can be seen in all aspects of the CITGO brand. In fact, since the launch of the program in 2009, CITGO has fueled more than a million miles of good through its support of local heroes like the Wythe-Grayson Regional Library Foundation. During the most recent campaign, nearly 1,700 charities entered and nearly 151,000 votes were cast to help determine the current round of Fueling Good winners.
