Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month, Together
by Mauro Gregorio
Hispanic Heritage Month – commemorated between September 15 and October 15 every year in the United States – celebrates the history, diverse cultures and contributions brought forward by the colorful Hispanic and Latin community.
These five weeks provide the opportunity to invite others to see our community through a more personal lens. It is a time for Hispanic and Latin people to use our voice to elevate stories that represent who we are, share impactful work elevating our community, and advocate for the support we need to continue making a path towards Equity and Inclusion.
At Dow the Hispanic and Latin Network (HLN) employee resource group invites all our colleagues, regardless of location, to join the celebration because Hispanic and Latin people, culture, and influence can be found everywhere and deserve to be seen and celebrated.
I invite you to do the same.
To active Allies: thank you for leaning in. Inclusion and Diversity cannot progress without your support and willingness to make a safe space to pave the way.
To those who want to do more but don’t know where to start, I encourage you to research how you can engage in the Inclusion work happening around you. Reach out, become an Ally.
To fellow Hispanic and Latin individuals and colleagues: I see you. I see the pride you bring to your work and everyday life. I see the resiliency you have shown in the difficult months we’ve faced. I wish this commemorative month brings you hope and a platform to share what makes you and your local community so unique.
Let’s make this Hispanic Heritage Month impactful, together.
With pride,
