Cascades Applauds Employees for Their Community Involvement
Kingsey Falls, June 26, 2014 /3BL Media/ – For the second year in a row, Cascades’ Socio-Heroes Contest, which aims to recognize Cascaders for their exceptional community involvement, was a great success. From among the numerous nominations submitted, two employees were chosen to be our 2013 Socio Heroes: William Leonard and Denis Paré. The winners were each awarded a cheque for $1,000 to be donated to the community organization of their choice, a recognition plaque, and a full description of their community work in the Company newspaper.
A warehouse handler at Norampac Schenectady Inc. in New York State, William has been collecting new toys and cash donations from his community for the past eight years, and giving them to the Toys for Tots Foundation, which helps make Christmas a special time for kids from low-income families. This Santa like no other also collects recyclable bottles and cans, which he exchanges for cash that is then used to purchase new toys for Toys for Tots. In addition, William volunteers at a number of other organizations, including Unity House of Schenectady and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Our Socio-Hero decided to award his prize to the Toys for Tots Foundation.
Denis Paré dedicates most of his volunteer time to the Centre Normand-Léveillé in Drummondville, a vacation and respite centre for people with intellectual, physical and sensory disabilities. In addition to his job as assistant die cutter operator at Norampac – Drummondville, Denis spends two or three days a week working on large-scale projects for the Centre. His most recent project: the storytelling tree. It consists of a gathering space with a stage equipped with an illuminated mechanical tree that tells stories to people staying at the Centre. The tree will also house a library accessible to the Centre’s clientele, providing a variety of stimuli. Naturally, Denis chose to give his $1,000 cheque to the Centre Normand-Léveillé.
Cascades is delighted to have employees who give so much to their communities. Their generosity fits in perfectly with our corporate philosophy, which is why Cascades wishes to recognize William’s and Denis’ exceptional involvement. Congratulations to our two 2013 Socio-Heroes!
