(3BLMedia/theCSRfeed) Chestnut Hill, Mass. - February 12, 2010 – Preparations are well under way for the 2010 International Corporate Citizenship Conference and with the premier event still two months away it is already attracting the who’s who of corporate citizenship.

Nearly 200 representatives of some of the world’s top companies have registered thus far for the Boston College Center for Corporate Citizenship’s annual conference, to be held April 11-13 in Boston. Expected to attract 500 business professionals, it is the largest conference that focuses exclusively on the corporate citizenship challenges business faces. Featuring the theme “Corporate Citizenship: Winning a Seat at the Table,” the conference will concentrate on business strategy, best practices and trends related to the role that companies play in society and the value of having these efforts integrated across the company.    Early registrations indicate that once again the conference will draw attendees from major global companies around the world. Professionals from companies in countries including Germany, the United Kingdom and Japan have already made plans to join peers from every corner of the United States and throughout North America. Accenture, Best Buy, BP, Cemex, Dow, Fidelity, IBM, McDonald’s, Merck, Microsoft, Target, Toyota, TransCanada and Verizon are just some of the leading companies sending representatives.   A sampling of industries represented at the conference is just as diverse, ranging from banking, health care, electronics and energy companies to consumer products, biotechnology, retail, food and beverage, computers and pharmaceuticals. The job titles of those attending also reveal the various business functions responsible for corporate citizenship within companies and the wide appeal of the conference. Attendees will have the opportunity to network with a corporate citizenship global director, community relations vice president and corporate sustainability director, as well as with a CEO, communications director, human resources vice president and public relations manager.   This year's conference offers keynote speakers who bring fresh ideas and perspectives that will challenge corporate citizenship professionals into a new way of thinking. Speakers include:
  • Kathryn C. Brown, Senior vice president, Public Policy Development & Corporate Responsibility, Verizon

  • John Hoffman, Vice president, HBO Documentary Films

  • Kurt Kuehn, Chief financial officer, UPS

  • Dan Roam, author of “The Back of the Napkin” and founder, Roam Digital

Breakout sessions at the conference provide an interactive environment for corporate citizenship professionals to dive head-first into the issues and challenges they face every day and learn from both panelists and peers.  The sessions will tackle such questions as:

  • What is the changing role of corporate foundations and what should it be?

  • Where will tomorrow's corporate citizenship leaders come from?

  • What are the latest corporate citizenship communications practices?

  • How does a company move from strategic philanthropy to strategic impact?
