The Boston Club Recognizes Alkermes plc and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts With First President's Award
Two organizations with presence in the greater Boston area honored for their commitment to gender diversity in the workplace
BOSTON, May 12, 2021 /3BL Media/ - Alkermes plc and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts are the recipients of The Boston Club’s first President’s Award, recognizing organizations that are leaders in supporting the advancement of women in the C-suite and boardroom, but whose corporate structure does not meet the specific research methodology used by the Club in its annual census of public companies. Anne Giovanoni, Vice President, Corporate Counsel at Alkermes, and Dorothy Puhy, Chair of the Board of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, accepted the awards on May 5th at The Boston Club’s Community Salute, an annual event that recognizes the leadership and collective volunteer contributions of women to nonprofit and public organizations.
In presenting the Award, Rita B. Allen, past president of The Boston Club said, “Our mission of advancing women leaders is only possible because of our partnership with leaders in the business and nonprofit communities. The support of these partners is extremely valuable to us and very much appreciated. The Boston Club identifies, recognizes, and showcases organizations that are leaders in our census reports, but we realize there are organizations that do not meet the research methodology yet have consistently demonstrated leadership in advancing women in their organizations.
“I am extremely excited to announce a new initiative to recognize such organizations. We are presenting The Boston Club President’s Award to two organizations that have shown continued leadership in advancing women leaders within their own organizations, consistent with the mission of The Boston Club.
“Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts and Alkermes are committed to creating inclusive and diverse organizations, as seen by the increasing number of women leaders on their boards and executive management teams, as well as within all levels of their workforces. They are leaders in the advancement of women and are continued supporters of The Boston Club. Most importantly, they exemplify that commitment in their practices.”
