Booz Allen Team Joins World TEAM Sports Face of America Ride
For the sixth year in a row, Booz Allen Hamilton participated in World TEAM Sports’ Face of America Ride, with a team of 21 riders from the firm participating in the event to honor disabled veterans and the community that supports them.
The Face of America Ride is one of the largest annual non-competitive bicycle rides in the Washington, D.C. region, with more than 700 riders, including nearly 175 injured veterans. Booz Allen Hamilton’s team is championed by leaders from across the firm including from its military health team. They are supported by dedicated group of firm volunteers who raise money to support adaptive sports for veterans. This year, the Booz Allen team raised over $34,000 with one team member recognized as a top-10 fundraiser.
“Riding alongside servicemen, servicewomen, and veterans reminds us of the great courage and commitment they each have offered so we can enjoy our freedom, said Booz Allen Senior Vice President Andrea Inserra. “I cannot think of a better way to give back to support their recovery and rehabilitation through sports such as the Face of America Ride. I am honored to be part of the Booz Allen team who volunteer, ride and donate for such a worthwhile and rewarding program,” she added.
This year’s Face of America offered two routes. The traditional route traveled 110 miles from the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia to the historic Civil War battlefields of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. The new northern route traversed 120 miles from historic Valley Forge, Pennsylvania to Gettysburg. Both routes joined in Gettysburg for the final miles to the ride finish.
Since 2006, the Face of America Ride honors the men and women who were wounded or disabled while in service to their nation. Participants include many disabled veterans, along with currently active military and retired military. Active duty service and emergency response men and women also join hundreds of able-bodied citizens who ride together.
