Booz Allen Makes an Impact at WE15—World’s Largest Conference for Women Engineers
A cadre of Booz Allen’s women engineers participated in WE15 last month, an annual conference that brings together more than 250 of the world’s leading engineering and technology companies and organizations and a global audience of more 8,000 women at all stages of their engineering careers.
The event, which was held in Nashville, TN, Oct. 22-24, celebrates and recognizes the achievements of Society of Women Engineer (SWE) members and individuals―including Booz Allen’s Ester Barbuto 2015 SWE Distinguished New Engineer Award Winner—who enhance the engineering profession through contributions to industry, education, and the community.
Booz Allen Principal Margaret Arney, who provided opening remarks during the awards ceremony, focused on the impact women engineers are having across the fields of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). “We applaud not only your engineering acumen but your leadership, your camaraderie, your willingness and ability to mentor the next generation of women engineers and show them how their involvement in STEM will empower them individually and as part of a group of incredible women who are engineering change and solutions that will positively impact all of us.”
During the conference, Booz Allen’s women engineers provided attendees with an introduction to some of the firm’s cutting-edge mobile and desktop applications, including CelluVR―an Oculus Rift DK2 experience that enables users to learn about the human circulatory system via nanobot; and an immersive “3D hospital” training environment that facilitates adjustment of staffing levels and treatment protocols based on the information gained.
