Blue Buffalo Donates Truckload of Food for Pets Impacted by Hurricane Dorian
Hurricane Dorian was the most powerful tropical cyclone on record to strike the Bahamas, causing catastrophic damage, leaving more than 70,000 people and pets homeless.
Hundreds of pets have been evacuated from the Bahamas until they can be reunited with their owners. During this time, dogs and cats are being cared for by several pet rescue organizations that are supported by Feeding America member, Treasure Coast Food Bank, in Fort Pierce, Florida.
When Feeding America asked Blue Buffalo for support, the pet food company generously agreed to donate a truckload (38,000 pounds) of dog and cat food and treats to help the pets impacted by Hurricane Dorian.
“This is an exciting milestone moment,” said Nicola Dixon, Executive Director of the General Mills Foundation. “While Blue Buffalo has a history of donating to animal shelters, this is the first time Blue Buffalo has partnered with Feeding America to distribute a large pet food donation to food banks serving families and their pets during this time of extreme need.”
