Mentors worked with New York City high school students to build robots that were entered into a contest.

Partnering with FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology), Bloomberg employees volunteered for 6-8 weeks working high school students in the New York City area to build robots. FIRST’s mission is to “inspire young people to be science and technology leaders, by engaging them in exciting mentor-based programs that build science, engineering and technology skills.” Thirty mentors from Bloomberg hosed an intro to programming session for the twelve Bloomberg sponsored teams. Bloomberg has supported FIRST since 2004. Bloomberg’s video on its work with FIRST was entered into Boston College Carroll School of Management’s Center for Corporate Citizenship’s annual Film Festival.
