Kenneth Cole Launches Retail Program to Raise Continued Funds for Center
(3BL Media) New York, NY - September 7, 2012 - AWEARNESS, The Kenneth Cole Foundation, announces the opening of the Kenneth Cole Haiti Health Center (KCHHC) at St. Mary’s Hospital in Cité Soleil, Haiti—one of the most challenging and underserved areas in the Western Hemisphere. The KCHHC will provide disease prevention, treatment, and education by empowering and supplying local Haitian leaders with the tools necessary to sustain a healthy community.
The funds for the center were raised through online and in-store donations. As part of this announcement, Kenneth Cole is launching a third retail program (running from September 7 to September 21), encouraging customers to donate $10 in Kenneth Cole retail stores and online at kennethcole.com in exchange for a 15 percent discount on purchases that day. Additionally, as a thank you for donating, customers will receive discounts on future purchases.
“We’re excited to announce the opening of the Kenneth Cole Haiti Health Center, which is intended to provide necessary disease prevention, education, and treatment to this population in need,” said Kenneth Cole. “The courage, strength, and capacity of the Haitian people is limitless. Our hope and intention is that the center will empower them with the tools necessary to build a healthier and stronger community.”
The center is part of Kenneth Cole’s ongoing disaster relief efforts in Haiti. Following the 2010 earthquake, 3.5 million people suffered serious physical, emotional, and medical challenges. Immediately following this earthquake, Kenneth Cole Productions organized a shoe drive for those affected and communicated a message of support via a billboard campaign. In October 2012, Kenneth Cole and 16 associates traveled to Haiti to volunteer and launch a community building initiative on the ground. KCHHC at St. Mary’s Hospital in Cité Soleil is part of a tri-level collaborative medical system in partnership with St. Damien’s and St. Luke’s.
