The AT&T Byron Nelson: Helping Kids With Their Long Game
Golf and education are an unlikely match, unless you are in Dallas during this time of year. The AT&T Byron Nelson, which begins at the end of the week, has a rich history of supporting students in North Texas.
Since 1968, Momentous Institute, has been the primary beneficiary of the Byron Nelson, which is hosted by Salesmanship Club of Dallas. Through the tournament, more than $137 million has been raised for Momentous Institute, and in just the last year, the tournament has impacted more than 6,000 children and families in the Dallas community just last year.
As I’ve shared previously, our AT&T team is privileged to work with Momentous Institute and its nationally-acclaimed Momentous School. We understand more everyday about how technology can mobilize and personalize learning to meet the unique needs of each student. We’ve even worked with Momentous Institute on translating their methods of helping kids manage stress and other emotions that can inhibit academic success into three free mobile apps.
In conjunction with our inaugural title sponsorship of the Byron Nelson, we’ve provided tablets and enhanced the Wi-Fi network inside the school over the past year. This not only supports the learning kids are doing in school, but also enables them to learn wherever they are – at school, at home or anywhere else. Ultimately, our goal is to help ensure students, no matter their background, have safe access to the tools that will help them be successful in school and prepare them for 21st century careers.
If you will be at the AT&T Bryon Nelson, check out our interactive displays located in the Digital Clubhouse and the KidsZone. And, if you’ll be watching from home, look for the AT&T commercials that highlight our collaboration with Momentous Institute – we think they are holes in one!
