Atlantic Canada Employee Volunteering Survey
Organizations looking to be a part of Atlantic Canada's corporate volunteer story are asked to complete the 30-minute survey by November 30.
The IMPACT2030 Workplace Volunteerism Survey
HALIFAX, Nova Scotia., October 21, 2020 /3BL Media/ — Today, the Atlantic Corporate Volunteer Council (ACVC), in partnership with IMPACT2030 and a number of like-minded businesses and nonprofit representatives from organizations such as TD Bank Group announced an exciting initiative that will be presented to the United Nations. Atlantic Canada's corporate residents are being invited to participate in a research project that will help identify the corporate volunteer work being done by employees in Atlantic Canada and share the impact of that work with the rest of the world.
The IMPACT2030 Workplace Volunteerism survey is part of a global initiative to harness the power of corporate volunteers. The United Nations developed IMPACT2030, challenging the global community to help transform our world through 17 identified Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that address a range of social needs.
Atlantic Canadians are known for their generosity, community-oriented nature, and substantial contributions to their communities through volunteerism. The act of volunteering itself plays a significant role in our East Coast culture. It not only benefits people intrinsically but correlates to community economic development and prosperity. There are countless stories of fundraising, charity volunteering, counseling services, and visiting senior homes yet these acts of volunteerism have never been collected, tabulated, analyzed, or shared outside of the Atlantic Region.
This story can only be told by gathering input from the hundreds of private sector organizations that have employees volunteering. The report when completed will lead to a better understanding of the impact that employees are having throughout Atlantic Canada and will help guide future corporate volunteer strategies.

"Atlantic Canada Corporations and their employees are generous people with their time, talent and treasure,” said Tina Murphy, Atlantic Steering Committee Co-Chair.
“By having strong participation in this Volunteer Survey we can look to share that story with the United Nations with solid evidence and create a benchmark for other provinces and countries to follow,” responded Nathan Laird, Atlantic Steering Committee Co-Chair.
Developed in collaboration with Narrative Research, the raw data collected will result in the very FIRST time in Canada that corporate formal and informal volunteer efforts and programs will be mapped against the Impact 2030 SDGs. Toronto, New Zealand, Baltimore, Maryland, Portugal, Australia, the United Arab Emirates, and Turkey are all taking part in this exciting initiative.
