Arrow Electronics Internet of Things Immersions Tour Showcases Future of "Interconnected Intelligence"
Connecting Technology to People Underscores Immersions Showcase in Four Key U.S. Markets.
Arrow Electronics is hosting its Internet of Things Immersions Roadshow to showcase how "Interconnected Intelligence" is changing the way the world interacts and solves problems with technology.
You’ll be hearing a lot more about the Internet of Things (IoT) in 2015. It’s the effort to digitally connect people with all of the “dumb” mechanical elements of their lives, such as their appliances, furnaces and cars, as well as systems like the electrical grid. Not only will adding electronics improve their efficiency, but leveraging the data and connecting them to the Internet promises to change how we live and learn.
"The true goal of technology is to benefit people and improve their lives," said Mike Long, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Arrow. "Collaborative learning on how society can improve, by being better connected and better informed, is what Arrow hopes to accomplish with our Immersions tour."
The four-city showcase tour started in Atlanta. Additional IoT events will be held in Minneapolis (on Dec. 11), as well as San Jose and Boston next March.
In each city, Arrow’s STEM education partnership with FIRST Robotics is highlighted. FIRST teams are demonstrating the skills of their latest robots at the showcases, and a portion of each conference registration fee is donated to FIRST organizations in those states.
The keynote speaker for each event is Indy Racing League team owner and former driver, Sam Schmidt. He shares his story of how working with Arrow on machine-to-machine (M2M) technologies enabled him to drive official qualifying laps at this year's Indianapolis 500 for the first time, nearly 15 years following racing crash that left him a quadriplegic. http://www.arrowsamcar.com/
Arrow also supports Schmidt’s nonprofit organization, Conquer Paralysis Now, in it’s challenge to make transformational progress in disability-related medicine and technology.
