Amgen Scholars at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universitaet (LMU) in Munich will engage in 10 weeks of intensive laboratory research. Up to 20 undergraduates will be exposed to cutting edge science in laboratories at LMU Munich's high-tech campus offering a unique academic and scientific life science environment with numerous renowned life science research institutions and world leading researchers.
Scholars will conduct mentor guided, hands-on research in the fields of biochemistry, cell, developmental, and molecular biology, genetics, microbiology, molecular medicine, neuroscience, computational neuroscience, cancer research, plant sciences and proteomics. Lectures and workshops offer insight into state-of-the art research topics, related issues such as bioethics, poster design, abstract writing and scientific career paths. The programme begins with an orientation retreat in the scenic Bavarian countryside, where scholars are introduced to LMU site staff, affiliated faculty and relevant research topics.
