Conflict Minerals
As the role Chinese companies play in the extraction of important mineral reserves in the DRC grows, so does the need for supply chain accountability and transparency among those companies purchasing these minerals. Across multiple industries these minerals are being purchased, most often unknowingly, by companies producing globally recognized brands in the electronics, consumer manufacturing, automotive and medical device industry.
Dodd-Frank Section 1502 Conflict Minerals Disclosure requirements, which began the first reporting period on January 1, 2013, was intended to create this transparency and accountability in an effort to ensure responsible sourcing practices.
July 1, 2013 - marks 6 months into the first reporting period and many companies are asking themselves "Where do we start?" For companies that manufacture thousands of products-such as retailers with name brands-the requirement to publicly disclose the origin of gold, tin, tantalum and tungsten (3TG) used in these products is now time sensitive and especially challenging.
Major companies across 6 industries have turned to Source Intelligence for a complete conflict minerals compliance solution.
