Nov 20, 2014 11:50 AM ET

DALLAS, Nov. 20, 2014 /3BL Media/ – Alliance Data Systems Corporation (NYSE: ADS), a leading global provider of data-driven marketing and loyalty solutions, and its businesses Epsilon and Alliance Data Retail Services, announced a $2 million donation to United Way chapters in 30 communities across the U.S.The donation is a cumulative result of their annual employee giving campaign as well as an incremental company commitment to the communities in which their associates live and work.

While each of Alliance Data’s businesses manages their own philanthropic activities, focusing largely on what matters most to their associates, United Way is the one cause that the company’s U.S. businesses all support. Alliance Data is committed to strategically investing time and resources in organizations and programs that have a real impact in our communities. United Way’s mission to provide all individuals access to education, income stability and healthy lives to achieve their highest potential aligns with Alliance Data’s goal to support organizations that have a collective impact on education, children and self-sufficiency.

“This contribution builds on Alliance Data’s long time support of United Way and allows us to further emphasize our commitment to education,” said Dana Beckman, senior manager of corporate affairs for Alliance Data. “Alliance Data is known for its passionate associates, and giving through United Way enables our associates to make a difference in a way that makes the most sense for them – whether it’s through time, talent or treasure.”

Alliance Data employees organize and run giving campaigns for their local United Way chapters each year. This year through those campaigns, employees raised $1.1 million, which the company matched $.50 on the $1, bringing the campaign total to nearly$1.7 million.

In addition, the company also made six $50,000 donations to educational initiatives funded by United Way spanning the cradle to career continuum. These initiatives have already demonstrated measurable results and long-term opportunity:

  • For Kids Only Afterschool – Boston, Mass.
  • Columbus Kids – Columbus, Ohio
  • READY! for Kindergarten – Coeur d’Alene, Idaho
  • Decade of Difference – Kansas City, Mo.
  • Mission: Graduate – Rio Rancho, N.M.

“A strong education system translates into strong communities and a productive workforce, all of which have a direct impact on our future economy,” said Beckman. “Companies like Alliance Data have a vested interest in helping students succeed in school, be prepared for college and ultimately enter the workforce.”

United Way actively assesses the needs of the community ensuring the most essential programs are receiving funding. It is because of these efforts that Alliance Data has full confidence the contributions to United Way are being used responsibly; providing vital programs to communities where they need it most, and impacting the lives of those in need.

In addition to supporting the community, Alliance Data’s pledge to strong corporate citizenship is focused on three other areas – data, people and environment. Each year, the company increases its corporate giving budget at a rate commensurate with the profitability and growth of the company, a growth that is only sustained through a strong, well-educated workforce.
