Alliance Data Commits Multi-Year, $2 Million Gift to Support Nationwide Children's Hospital's Pediatric Vital Signs Initiative
- Funds to support a data-driven platform that will accelerate the effectiveness of the Pediatric Vital Signs program and improve health of central Ohio youth
- Alliance Data President and CEO Ralph Andretta joins Nationwide Children’s Hospital Board of Trustees
COLUMBUS, Ohio, Dec. 10, 2020 /3BL Media/ – Alliance Data Systems Corporations (NYSE: ADS), a leading provider of data-driven marketing, loyalty and payment solutions, today announced its Card Services business, a provider of market-leading private label, co-brand and commercial credit card programs, has committed a $2 million donation to Nationwide Children’s Hospital, one of the country’s leading pediatric health care systems.
The funds will be used to support the hospital’s Pediatric Vital Signs program, a first-of-its-kind community-based initiative designed to meaningfully measure and improve the health of all children, both patients and non-patients, in Franklin County. The initiative seeks to address the issues facing area youth that fundamentally affect their health, as well as the health of the entire community, such as childhood obesity and kindergarten readiness.
“Nationwide Children’s Hospital is a fixture of our community and we are proud to continue our support of the hospital’s efforts to improve the lives of children across our region,” said Ralph Andretta, president and chief executive officer at Alliance Data, and an incoming Nationwide Children’s board member. “We know that data can be a powerful catalyst for change, and as such, we are excited to provide the funding to help the Pediatric Vital Signs initiative track and evaluate outcomes to make our community stronger and healthier for generations to come.”
Alliance Data’s contribution will help build a comprehensive database for Pediatric Vital Signs that integrates with the hospital’s existing electronic medical record system. This will enable the team to document, aggregate, track and analyze participation in the hospital’s community initiatives in order to evaluate its impact in addressing the eight vital signs for pediatric health: infant mortality, kindergarten readiness, high school graduation, teen pregnancy, obesity, suicide, preventive health and child mortality.
“In the same way that traditional vital signs such as temperature and blood pressure give an indication of an individual child’s health, Pediatric Vital Signs will measure and help improve the wellbeing of all our children in Franklin County,” said Tim Robinson, CEO, Nationwide Children’s Hospital. “Alliance Data has long been our trusted partner in making children healthier, and this generous donation builds on that legacy. We are so grateful for this gift, and for the many other ways they continue to support the families we serve.”
For more than two decades, Alliance Data has supported Nationwide Children’s Hospital with over $1.8 million in corporate donations. Additionally, Alliance Data associates have a long history of serving as hospital volunteers and committee members and participating in activities with the Alliance Data Sibling Clubhouse, a special place for preschool and school-aged children to play and learn while siblings are in the hospital.
