Alexion Employees Spread Awareness and Celebrate Success During Safe + Sound Week

Safe + Sound Week is a nationwide event sponsored by the U.S. Department of Labor that is held each year. The event aims to recognize the successes of workplace safety and health programs, and empower organizations to energize their health and safety programs. When successful, these programs can improve sustainability and proactively identify and manage workplace hazards before they cause injury.

Alexion participated by recognizing our commitment to safety and helping raise awareness about worker's health and safety. Throughout Safe + Sound Week, our Environmental Health & Safety team provided workers with three fun safety challenges to take part in. Each challenge was modeled after one of the three core elements of a successful health and safety program: Management Leadership, Worker Participation, and Finding/Fixing Hazards. 

Alexion was among 18 Connecticut organizations that participated in the nationwide event and was recognized by OSHA as a 2019 participant. To complete the week, a number of Alexion’s Research and Global Product Development workers, alongside New Haven's safety council, took the "Safe at Work" Pledge.
