Aflac Named Outstanding Corporation by the Association of Fundraising Professionals in South Carolina
Company recognized for its ongoing corporate social responsibility efforts
COLUMBIA, S.C., October 26, 2017 /3BL Media/ – Aflac, the leading provider of voluntary insurance sales at the worksite in the U.S., today announced that the Association of Fundraising Professionals in Central South Carolina named the company its Outstanding Corporation in honor of National Philanthropy Day, which it is celebrating today. Aflac was nominated for the award by Central South Carolina Habitat for Humanity.

Since creating its group insurance headquarters in Columbia in 2009, Aflac has contributed more than $1 million to help families facing childhood cancer, supported healthy cooking classes in underserved communities and built homes for families in need through Habitat for Humanity.
In addition, Aflac has made multiyear investments to various nonprofits in service areas like health, human services, childhood and higher education. Some of the more significant investments include contributions to Palmetto Health Foundation for Palmetto Health Children’s Hospital, EdVenture, Claflin University, Columbia Museum of Art, Oliver Gospel Mission, the University of South Carolina Arnold School of Public Health and the Central Carolina Community Foundation’s Midland Gives program.
Aflac employees have also been involved with local South Carolina philanthropic efforts, including the employee-run donations committee; building local homes for Habitat for Humanity; fundraising for Relay for Life, March of Dimes, Light the Night Midlands and Harvest Hope Food Bank; American Red Cross Blood Drives; and employee participation in Children’s Hospital events.
