Aboriginal Youth Awarded GE Scholarships

GE and the Institute of International Education (IIE) has announced its five 2011 GE Foundation Scholar-Leaders regional winners. For the first time since its inception, the program is exclusively offering financial support and skills development opportunities to Canadian-resident Aboriginal individuals.

GE Foundation's Scholar-Leaders program supports outstanding students who are pursuing the fields of engineering or business management. In addition to providing financial support, the program incorporates leadership training and mentorships over a three-year period. Scholars also work-shadow GE employees to gain insight into prospective careers and learn about the skills needed for their career advancement.   "Post-secondary education is a critical component to drive Canada's success", says Terry Peach, HR manager, GE Canada.
