Abbott Named One of the Top 25 Best-Managed Companies of 2021, and Top 10 Companies for Sustainability in The Wall Street Journal
"Sustainability Stars" ranking recognizes companies for results and practices aligned to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
Abbott was recently recognized in The Wall Street Journal for strong performance in both corporate sustainability and a broader analysis of well-run companies for customers, employees and investors.
The Wall Street Journal recently published the Drucker Institute’s annual Management Top 250 ranking, which identifies the world's most effectively managed companies. Abbott ranked No. 23 on the overall 2021 list, moving up 28 spots from 2020. The Management Top 250 measures corporate performance in five areas: customer satisfaction, employee engagement and development, innovation, social responsibility and financial strength. In the social responsibility category, Abbott earned a spot as one the "Social Top 10" companies, ranking No. 6.
This year, the Management Top 250 list also looked at companies' environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance, with a separate ranking of "Sustainability Stars" that focuses on how well companies match the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Abbott ranked No. 9 for measurable results and tangible practices aligned to the SDGs.
Abbott's 2030 Sustainability Plan has a clear focus on innovating for greater access and affordability in health, which closely corresponds with several SDGs – including Goal 2 Zero Hunger and Goal 3 Good Health and Wellbeing. But health underpins many other goals too, which further extends the company’s SDG impact.
