WALTHAM® International Nutritional Sciences Symposium brings together over 200 leading experts to discuss key issues in pet health and nutrition
Leading international experts in the field of veterinary and nutritional sciences will come together this week at the WALTHAM® International Nutritional Sciences Symposium (WINSS) to discuss critical issues in the field of pet health and nutrition, such as healthy ageing and tackling pet obesity. WINSS is hosted by the WALTHAM® Centre for Pet Nutrition, the state-of-the-art petcare science centre for Mars Petcare that provides the science and expertise underpinning leading Mars brands.
"Since the publication of our first original research in 1963, we have pioneered a number of important breakthroughs in the field of pet nutrition", commented Dr Denise Elliott, Head of Research, WALTHAM® Centre for Pet Nutrition. "Forums such as WINSS are an opportunity to share this knowledge and advance understanding by fostering dialogue among the scientific and veterinary communities. In this way, we ensure that we are at the forefront of the latest scientific developments and that the broader field of research continues to move forward for the benefit of both pets and their owners."
WALTHAM® has been hosting WINSS since 1987 with the aim of bringing together leading experts in pet health and nutrition to discuss and share current and future research in the field. This year's meeting will take place from 1–4 October in Portland, Oregon, USA, and will include over 100 research presentations on a diverse range of topics. The symposium is co-sponsored by Banfield Pet Hospital®, the European College of Veterinary and Comparative Nutrition, and the American College of Veterinary Nutrition.
One of the key pieces of research presented at this year's WINSS will be a recent WALTHAM® study, carried out in collaboration with Banfield Pet Hospital®, highlighting the far-reaching consequences for dogs of being overweight.
