Victoria Vase from Molly Hatch is Greenspiration Home American Made “Pick-of-the-Week!”

We love to see talented artists succeed and Molly Hatch, a ceramic artist-designer in Northampton, Massachusetts is, indeed, on the road to success.  First, her works of ceramic art are commanding high prices in prestigious art galleries like the Ferrin Gallery in Pittsfield, MA.  She also gets to create wonders like this Victoria Vase, our Greenspiration Home American Made Pick-of-the-Week, in her home studio in Northhampton where she lives with her husband and daughter.  Not a bad life for an ambitious and talented young artist.   Make no mistake, Molly didn’t just one day throw a lump of clay on the wheel and call it art.  She has degrees in Fine Art from the University of Colorado and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston.  She has also served several ceramic residencies in the US and West Indies and won the prestigious Arts/Industry Residency in Pottery at the John Michael Kohler Arts Center in Wisconsin.  It’s pretty impressive stuff from the daughter of a New England painter and an organic dairy farmer.  But then, that’s part of where she gets her inspiration.   “I am inspired by my family history and objects that were passed on from generation to generation. My understanding and exposure to the history of craft and design is strongly grounded in those objects. My work is typically inspired directly by history,” said Molly.   Sophisticated, Charming, Whimsical Her unique ceramics are delicate and finely detailed both in form and with hand painting.  Her sources for inspiration run the gamut from historic trends in fabrics to hip hop music.  The final product is sophisticated and elegant, yet charmingly whimsical.   Molly’s work can be found in many galleries, but keeping up with demand is getting harder and harder.  Molly recently began selling work more exclusively through the  Ferrin Gallery, which is located in the Berkshires of western Massachusetts.      We think Molly’s early success and intriguing style is a precursor to a great future for this American born artist and we are delighted to feature her work as our American Made Pick-of-the-Week!     Greenspiration Home LLC is an online resource dedicated to helping homeowners build, renovate, and decorate green.  The Greenspiration Home American Made “Pick-of-the-Week” campaign is part of the publication’s initiative to educate consumers about domestically made home décor options.    GREE20132
