U.S. Chamber Foundation Heads to Mexico City for Women's Empowerment and Workforce Development Event
Interested in women's economic empowerment? Join business leaders on February 9-10 to learn how companies with operations in Mexico can successfully integrate women-owned businesses into their supply chains.
"The purchasing power of large supply chains could provide billions in sustainable impact for women. By empowering women entrepreneurs, companies can expand their base of suppliers, consumers and productive workers, while improving the lives of women and their families globally.” – From Millions to Billion: Scaling Up Women’s Empowerment Globally, a report by U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation Corporate Citizenship Center
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation Corporate Citizenship Center, along with the American Chamber of Commerce in Mexico, WEConnect International, and our corporate and nonprofit partners, will convene a two-day event in Mexico City on February 9-10, 2016 focused on promoting women’s entrepreneurship.
Who should attend?
- Companies and cross—sector stakeholders interested in economic empowerment and women’s entrepreneurship in Mexico
- Global sourcing and supplier diversity professionals
- Financing and entrepreneurship capacity building organizations
This program will explore the global private sector’s economic empowerment efforts in Mexico. A key focus will be the status of Mexican women-owned businesses and offer global companies ways in which they can integrate them into supply chains. Research has shown that investing in women produces a multiplier effect – women reinvest a large portion of their income in their families and communities. Supporting the development and growth of women-owned businesses and entrepreneurs, corporations are able to enhance their social impact and enable a prosperous Mexican economy.
