Tetra Rex® Bio-based wins top award for ‘Sustainable Innovation’
September 30, 2015 /3BL Media/ - Tetra Pak has won another award for its revolutionary Tetra Rex® Bio-based - The World’s First Renewable Package. Ethical Corporation announced Tetra Pak as winner of the Sustainable Innovation title at the Sixth Annual Responsible Business Awards ceremony in London last week. The awards celebrate responsible business practice from around the world in seventeen different categories, recognising organisations as well as individuals for their achievements.
Tetra Pak’s renewable package outshone tough competitors from various sectors, including services and FMCG companies, in the Sustainable Innovation category. The Ethical Corporation had strict criteria for shortlisted entrants, highly commending Timberland, before awarding first place to Tetra Pak for its outstanding innovation. Ethical Corporation announced: “This award went to the company that most clearly demonstrated incorporation of sustainability into commercial objectives, or applied it in addressing a business challenge. The winner showed that they have created a definitive new product that has been incorporated into operations across the company”.
This title adds to a string of accolades, as the company has already received international recognition for its Tetra Rex® Bio-based cartons at several prestigious awards ceremonies since the first customer launch earlier this year. Ethical Corporation confirmed its global success: “Tetra Pak Group has designed a potentially transformative packaging solution leveraging sustainability at the heart of its innovation while working with multiple partners.”
Tetra Pak achieved a significant milestone towards reaching its corporate 2020 Environmental Goals with the launch of Tetra Rex® Bio-based at the start of 2015. The world’s first fully renewable liquid food carton package is produced from nothing but renewable, recyclable and traceable FSCTM certified packaging and bio-based plastic derived entirely from sugarcane. The company will be building on this expertise to introduce more renewable packaging across the portfolio in the years ahead.
