That’s why Greenspiration Home is on the lookout for homeowners to share their experiences (with candor and style!) for the benefit of other homeowners. Virtually any topic that is related to building, renovating or decorating is potentially acceptable, as long as the message conveys a way for homeowners to save energy, water, materials, money, or frustration.
For most people homeownership is a lifelong process of trial and error. Unfortunately, 30 or 40 years is a long wait to learn everything one needs to know about owning and maintaining a home. Greenspiration Home hopes to shorten the learning curve.
"To save time, money, and energy we need to know more about our homes now," says Trish Holder, publisher of Greenspiration Home. "Besides, all that ignorance gives builders, contractors, and real estate agents a lot of room to mislead current or would-be homeowners, whether they do so knowingly or because they are simply ignorant themselves."
Ms. Holder is looking for guest writers throughout North America to share their experiences on everything from landscaping to floor coverings. Writers may have a background in construction, sustainability or anything else for that matter, but the content must be written from their personal experience as a homeowner. Although content is based on the personal experience, Holder stresses that this is a serious and credible online publication--not a free-for-all blog. Articles will be proofed and possibly edited for style and accuracy. Short author biographies are allowed, but not specific brand or product promotion. Greenspiration Home is intended as a trusted resource by and for homeowners. Those who are interested in sustainability will realize the potential of shared, peer-to-peer information to improve residential construction practices.
