Piedmont Natural Gas Honored for Support of Employee Military Roles

CHARLOTTE, N.C., April 3, 2017 /3BL Media/ – Piedmont Natural Gas, a subsidiary of Duke Energy, announced it has been recognized for its support of employees who are military veterans or serve in the National Guard and Reserve.
Piedmont was among several North Carolina employers honored with the prestigious “Above and Beyond Award” Saturday, March 25, at the annual Employer Recognition Banquet hosted by the North Carolina Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve.
The organization is a Department of Defense agency whose mission is to gain and maintain employer support for Guard and Reserve service members by recognizing employers who provide job security for employees while they are on active duty. The agency also works to promote and encourage the hiring of Guard and Reserve members and veterans.
“We are very grateful for all Americans who serve and we are proud to support our Piedmont associates in fulfilling their military service obligations,” said Keith Napier, director of natural gas operations – East, for Piedmont Natural Gas. “We understand that our support and advocacy of employee participation in the military is critical to maintaining the strength and readiness of the nation’s Guard and Reserve units.”
Piedmont was nominated for the award by Greg Brown, an operations manager who joined the company in 1990 and has served in the North Carolina Air National Guard since 1993. In addition to annual training exercises, Brown has taken time away from his job for three deployments, most recently to Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, where he oversaw several construction projects.
“Piedmont Natural Gas is one of the most supportive employers with leading-edge policies regarding military leave,” said Brown. “I feel fortunate to work for a company that makes it easy for me and my family to balance my work obligations and duty to my country.”
The event was held at the Greensboro-High Point Marriott Airport in Greensboro.
