Patriotic Pride with Make-A-Wish
Happy 4th of July to Our Heroes
Army reservists marched into Louis’ yard on a mission: to grant his wish and give him the courage to overcome Burkitt’s lymphoma.
Louis knew Make-A-Wish® was granting his wish to have an Army fort. But the visit from the soldiers surprised him … and became the highlight of his wish.
The reservists had gifts for Louis – dog tags, a sleeping bag, camouflage paint, a canteen and even a uniform, to match theirs. Louis is in high spirits, with a smile ready for everyone.
On that day Louis tackled the rock-climbing wall, took trips down the slide and hunkered down in the playhouse tower to hear stories about life in the United States Army. He learned how the monkey bars and rock-climbing wall are similar to obstacle courses soldiers use for training. The day Louis’ wish was granted was not about lymphoma – it was about Louis, his wish and the promise of his future.
Make-A-Wish America would like to spread the 4th of July spirit and say thank you for all of those currently serving or having served in our military.
