Papa Murphy’s and CBS EcoMedia to Fund Starlight Tablets and Fun Centers for Four Sacramento-Area Hospitals
“Power On!” ceremony celebrates the estimated 3,400 pediatric patients to benefit
SACRAMENTO, CA, DEC. 17, 2013 /3BL Media/ – Papa Murphy’s has partnered with CBS EcoMedia Inc. to sponsor two signature WellnessAd advertising programs with the Starlight Children’s Foundation® for four Sacramento-area hospitals: Shriners Hospitals for Children–Northern California, Sutter Medical Center, St. Joseph’s Medical Center of Stockton and Doctors Medical Center of Modesto.
“We understand and appreciate the communities we serve,” said Greg Wellington, Sacramento Papa Murphy’s franchise owner. “Being able to provide tools for children to stay connected with family is extremely important. We look forward to continuing our relationship with these local hospitals through the Starlight Children’s Foundation.”
The “Power On!” event at the CBS Channel 13/CW Channel 31 Studio on December 10 kicked off the celebration for the Papa Murphy’s donation of two Starlight Fun Center® units and five Starlight Tablets for use with these facilities. Starlight Fun Center® mobile entertainment units contain gaming systems that roll bed side to provide therapeutic play for pediatric patients. For children facing surgery, enduring long outpatient treatments or fighting loneliness after hospital visiting hours have ended, these units provide a comforting break. The Starlight tablets are a critical resource for healthcare professionals and feature tools and resources to aid child life specialists. They come loaded with Starlight’s educational programming, a list of recommended applications and six of Starlight’s award-winning online educational programs.
“Time and time again the starlight fun centers and tablets prove to be excellent tools for supporting and engaging their young patients,” said Jacqueline Hart-Ibrahim, Starlight Global CEO. “Partnerships like CBS EcoMedia and Papa Murphy’s allow Starlight to bring this valuable resource to our partner facilities.”
“This is such a meaningful donation to the children we serve. We all know that video games have a universal appeal to kids of all ages. In a hospital setting there is an added benefit, the fun centers provide distraction and a form of therapeutic recreation for children coming for surgical care,” says Penny Lees, Manager of Therapeutic Recreation and Child Life at Shriners Hospitals for Children–Northern California. “We will use the fun center in our pre-op area, which will give patients and families an opportunity to engage while waiting for surgery,” Lees adds.
“The life-changing impact that Starlight Children’s Foundation makes on pediatric patients and their families is profound,” said Paul Polizzotto, Founder and President of CBS EcoMedia. “We’re grateful to Papa Murphy’s for bettering the lives of thousands of pediatric patients and their families in the Sacramento area.”
