Make-A-Wish® Acknowledges the Armed Forces for Being Heroes to Wish Kids
Members of the armed forces are heroes—not only for their commitment to serving our country abroad—but for what they do domestically to support children battling life-threatening medical conditions. Each year, Make-A-Wish® grants numerous military-related wishes on military bases nationwide. Whether the wish kid wants to be a Navy Blue Angel or fly in an F-16 Viper, members of the military go above and beyond their call of duty to make the kid’s wish come true.
Jorge, a 5-year-old with retinoblastoma, told Make-A-Wish that his one true wish was to be a marine. His wish experience took him and his family to Camp Pendleton, Calif., where he was sworn in as a general for the day, participated in simulation exercises, rode in assault vehicles, took an army boxing lesson and rode in a helicopter.
“He’s just a brave little guy, full of life and energy,” said Sgt. Daniel Mullis, a formal marksmanship training course instructor.
Service members embody strength and dedication, and through their generosity empower children to conquer their illness. Make-A-Wish thanks all current and past members of the armed forces for their service to our country and for their willingness to make wishes come true.
