Love for Soccer Brings Make-A-Wish Kids Together
Nearly 40 Wish Kids Traveled to Watch the 2014 World Cup in Brazil
Wish kids from across America joined together to cheer on soccer players during the Spain vs. Australia World Cup game on Monday in Curitiba, Brazil. The match was one of several activities the group participated in during the week. Wish kids and family members sat up-close to the action with field-side seats for the match at Arena de Baixada. Nearly 40 American wish kids and more than 10 others from around the world, wished to attend the World Cup, coming from 14 different states, all battling life-threatening medical conditions. The 2014 World Cup is one of the largest international wish granting endeavors in the history of Make-A-Wish and has given many kids the opportunity to take a break from the daily struggles of their illness. Many kids bonded through their experiences and used their love for soccer to form new friendships with other kids who face life-threatening medical conditions.
