JPMorgan Chase to Donate $200,000 to Aid Louisiana Flood Relief Efforts
Chase waives select fees and provides assistance for affected customers
Baton Rouge, August 18, 2016 /3BL Media/ – JPMorgan Chase & Co. will donate $200,000 from its foundation to support flood relief efforts in Louisiana, the firm announced today. The grants will assist the American Red Cross-Louisiana Region and two United Way chapters in the state – the Capital Area United Way and the United Way of Acadiana – that are providing critical short- and long-term support to the affected communities.
“The flooding has had a heartbreaking impact on thousands of our customers, neighbors and employees in Louisiana,” said Janet Olson, Baton Rouge Market President, JPMorgan Chase. “Our support will help victims of the flooding gain access to critical resources they need to recover and come back stronger.”
Specifically, the Red Cross will receive $100,000 and the United Way chapters will each receive $50,000. They will use this funding to provide residents with immediate assistance such as food, shelter, medical care and clothing, in addition to longer-term support to help rebuild communities.
For affected customers, Chase is automatically waiving late fees for mortgage, credit card, business banking and auto loans as well as overdraft, ATM and monthly service fees on deposit accounts through August. Customers can call 888.356.0023 for individual assistance. For non-customers in the affected areas, Chase will not charge a fee to use its ATMs through August. The firm has also reopened 53 of 56 branches in the area.
JPMorgan Chase has more than 2,700 employees in Louisiana and more than 1 million consumer customers in the state. Since Hurricane Katrina, Chase has donated nearly $40 million to non-profits working in Louisiana.
