International Living Future Institute Adds $10K Prize Incentive to 2016 Biomimicry Global Design Challenge
Can we design products that function as elegantly as anything found in the natural world? And can those products mimic nature’s design principles?
The Ray C. Anderson Foundation proudly sponsors the Biomimicry Global Design Challenge, and we are most excited by the opportunity to present the first $100,000 Ray of Hope Prize to one of seven finalists from the 2015 Challenge at the 2016 Bioneers Conference in October.
The Biomimicry Global Design Challenge is an annual team competition from the Biomimicry Institute, that focuses on accelerating the development of nature-inspired solutions to critical sustainability issues. Currently, the focus is on global food systems.
As an added incentive for 2016, the Biomimicry Institute has partnered with the International Living Future Institute to offer an additional $10,000 prize incentive, through the Living Product Challenge (LPC), called the Living Product Prize. This new prize will be awarded for a concept that captures the transformative spirit of the LPC – that is, products that are informed by biomimicry and biophilia, manufactured by processes powered only by renewable energy, and operate within the water balance of the places they are made.
The winner of the $10,000 Living Product Prize will be announced at the Living Product Expo in Pittsburgh in September 2016, and will go on to compete for the $100,000 Ray of Hope Prize in October.
