Innovation Amidst Adversity: Global Compact Network Canada Searches for Young Professionals Who Are Reimagining Sustainability in the Face of COVID-19
October 29, 2020 /3BL Media/ - Global Compact Network Canada announced a call for companies to nominate young professionals who are transforming their company’s sustainability practices for the better despite the pressures of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Now in its second year, the Young SDG Innovators Program is an opportunity for companies participating in the United Nations Global Compact to identify young talent within their organizations to collaborate and accelerate business innovation towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that can contribute to building more resilient and equitable societies.
“The future of business – and society – will depend on how agile and adaptive we are to the needs of the most vulnerable, how open we are to new and disruptive ideas; and how willing we are to embrace new mindsets and collaborations. Now is the time for us all to be innovators.” - Sanda Ojiambo, CEO & Executive Director of the UN Global Compact.
Through a series of interactive workshops and activities, young professionals or “Innovators” will focus on identifying opportunities and solutions that bridge the SDGs, drive innovation and address relevant challenges in their companies. By providing opportunities to learn from global sustainability and innovation experts while working collaboratively with top talents from different sectors, the programme will challenge participants to develop new ideas, initiatives and solutions that have potential to advance their companies’ sustainability targets while delivering market value.
In addition to Global Compact Network Canada, the Young SDG Innovators Program will be implemented by Global Compact Local Networks in participating countries around the world. The program will create a global network of the next generation of business leaders and help companies of all sizes unlock new opportunities while taking action to achieve the SDGs.
