Davidson, N.C., Oct. 19, 2015 /3BL Media/ – Human Resource Executive magazine recognized Marcia Avedon on its 2015 HR Honor Roll, an annual award that recognizes top HR professionals who have made a lasting impact on their organizations and in the HR discipline. She is one of two executives this year to be recognized in the large companies category (7,500 employees or more). Avedon is the senior vice president of human resources, communications and corporate affairs for Ingersoll Rand, a world leader in creating comfortable, sustainable and efficient environments.

“From learning and professional development to employee engagement and diversity and inclusion, Marcia has created a winning culture that encourages our employees to generate new ideas and improve our performance," said Mike Lamach, chairman and CEO of Ingersoll Rand. "Her leadership helps Ingersoll Rand exceed customer expectations and furthers our growth.”

Published in the November issue of Human Resource Executive and on the magazine’s website, Avedon’s story describes the integral role she played in the creation of a spin-off company and subsequent reorganization of Ingersoll Rand, noting her conviction that HR professionals must have strong business acumen in order to best contribute to a company’s success.

The story also details how employee engagement levels at Ingersoll Rand have risen significantly over the past few years despite organizational changes. Avedon attributes this to leader and manager accountability and the company’s continued efforts to make the culture more progressive, diverse and inclusive.

“We as HR professionals and executives need to be impacting individuals within the organization, but we also need to have a big impact on society and the communities where we live and work, by creating opportunities [and] by being more inclusive,” Avedon says in the story. “We need to be thinking about both those levels of impact: organizational and societal.”

In 2015, Avedon led Ingersoll Rand to its designation as one of the Best Companies for Leaders by Chief Executive magazine, and its inclusion on the Workforce 100, a listing of the world’s top companies for human resources. Earlier this year, Ingersoll Rand also was recognized as the No. 1 Industrial Machinery company on FORTUNE Magazine’s 2015 World’s Most Admired Companies list.
