H&M Conscious Foundation & Global Citizen Festival
October 1, 2014 /3BL Media/ - H&M Conscious Foundation Ambassador Alek Wek joins Prime Ministers, Presidents and World Leaders to end extreme poverty by 2030.
H&M was the exclusive retail sponsor of the 2014 Global Citizen Festival, held on Sunday, September 27 on the Great Lawn in Central Park .
Approximately 60,000 people attended and even more watched live throughout the day on MSNBC and/or the broadcast special, directed by Ken Ehrlich, which aired on NBC.
During the festivities, H&M Conscious Foundation Ambassador Alek Wek (wearing H&M) and Global Manager Helena Thybell entered the stage to make a commitment, and to state an example of organizations taking action against extreme poverty. The Foundation donated $ 9.3 million USD to WaterAid, to transform lives by delivering water, sanitation and hygiene in schools. 250,000 students will directly benefit from this three year program.
The H&M Conscious Foundation shared the stage with Celebrity Hosts including Hugh Jackman, Olivia Wilde (wearing an H&M Conscious denim jumpsuit) and Jessica Alba. Headlining artists included Jay Z, No Doubt and Carrie Underwood and World Leaders Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India; Sheikh Hasina, Prime Minister of the People's Republic of Bangladesh and United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.
