Hilton Worldwide Continues Global Week of Service Through 170 Events Around the World
On Day Four of the Hilton Worldwide Global Week of Service, Team Members led more than 170 service events at corporate offices and hotel properties around the world, including signature events in Shanghai, China; Dallas, Texas and Bronx, New York. Service projects ranged from fundraising activities for a women's shelter in Mumbai to packing dinners for children in Michigan – all with a focus on providing continual and lasting local impact as part of the company’s efforts to Travel with Purpose. Shanghai, China: Over the past few weeks, Team Members from the Shanghai corporate office raised 70,000 RMB for the Shanghai Healing Home, which provides pre- and post-surgical care to abandoned babies suffering from surgically correctable medical conditions. More than 50 enthusiastic Team Members spent Thursday building an outdoor gazebo for the children to play outdoors and constructing a garden space to grow fresh vegetables. The volunteers also presented the monetary donation to Shanghai Healing Home leaders and a "House of Light & Warmth" plaque which will be installed in their new facility.
Dallas, Texas: More than 100 Team Members from Hilton Worldwide’s Dallas Corporate Office – led by Russ Olivier, senior vice president, Hilton Reservations and Customer Care and Bill Duncan, global head, Homewood Suites by Hilton & Home2 Suites by Hilton, and several teams from area Hilton Worldwide hotels – gathered to work on light construction projects, painting, landscaping and general cleanup at two Family Gateway sites. In just four hours time: picnic tables, benches and computer stations were erected; gallons of paint with artwork and inspirational messages were applied to walls at both sites; several tons of landscaping mulch was laid down; and a spiral herb garden was built in the apartment’s courtyard. Family Gateway assists homeless children and their families achieve independence through supportive housing, social services and education.
Bronx, New York: As captured in this video, more than 60 Team Members from various Hilton Worldwide hotels in New York City worked with New York Cares at PS57X Crescent Elementary School in the south Bronx. Projects included: painting the school’s front entrance door and artistic murals; helping students write and create heartfelt messages of hope and inspiration for Sandy victims; and stuffing personal hygiene kits to be distributed to local area shelters. Upon completion of the various projects, Team Member volunteers assembled for a group shot on the school’s auditorium stage by sending up a resounding Bronx Cheer!
