GSK Program lets Employees Tackle Global Health Issues through Volunteerism

Lynda Bryant-Comstock talks to the North Carolina News & Observer this week about how her working life at GSK was completely transformed through a work volunteer scheme that allowed her to swap her day job for a 6 month placement in the Mozambique offices of the charity Save the Children.

"I saw how moms who lived in one-room grass huts clutched their little vaccine cards with their babies and would stay in line just to get that vaccine," she told the newspaper. It gave her... a new insight into her work at GSK and saw her return to the North Carolina offices with a renewed love of her job.

Lynda was one of the 100 GSK employees who in 2012 participated in the Pulse Volunteering Partnership - an annual work exchange scheme that matches employees with non profit organisations throughout the world, aiming to address global health issues and other challenges.
